The Client Goal
DreamWorks Studios produces live-action and animated movies for a global audience. Their goal was to spark interest in their upcoming film “Penguins of Madagascar” — more specifically, for the panel they’d be holding about the movie at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. They needed a visual communication piece that would appeal to the media outlets surrounding the event while also intriguing Comic-Con attendees. Lastly, they asked that we incorporate original artwork from the movie into our final design.
After settling on a web infographic to allow easy media distribution, we spoke with the client to determine how to most effectively incorporate the movie art. We determined that placing the DreamWorks artwork exclusively in the header and footer would allow us to develop an engaging script and visual appeal without being limited to just movie images, which wouldn’t properly align to the copy. Additionally, the content didn’t directly ask viewers to attend the panel or go watch the film. Instead, it provided relevance by incorporating Comic-Con events and attendees into the infographic design, allowing DreamWorks to generate interest without losing either target audience.
