Kaiser Permanente’s Greater Southern Alameda County (GSAA) service area had a new leadership team. And they wanted to celebrate their accomplishments during the first 2 years with this reorganized and more effective team. They also wanted to share their goals for 2020 and get their internal teams, decision-makers, and community excited about their mission and values. That’s why the Kaiser Permanente GSAA team asked Killer Visual Strategies to design a new logo for their region that was cohesive with Kaiser’s existing branding, communicated their role as a leading healthcare provider, and highlighted their accomplishments and strategies for the future.

Given Killer’s extensive experience working with clients in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and medical industries, our team was uniquely equipped to find the right solution for GSAA’s needs.

Our Solution: A New Logo & Branding-Driven Infographic

The Killer team started by exploring 6 initial logo concepts that represented GSAA’s dedication to their region and to creating an exceptional patient-centric care experience. We collaborated closely with GSAA to refine these concepts and hone in on a solid direction before introducing type and color. 

The final logo combined a heart and the letter “G” in a design that is reminiscent of a pin on a map. It symbolizes their geographic location, their culture of caring, and their movement to be “Greater.” We provided GSAA with multiple versions of the final logo, with varying colors and compositions for greater flexibility. 

We then created a shareable and versatile long-scroll infographic that featured two years of accomplishments and the path forward in 2020. We worked with GSAA to shape the information they wanted to share into content that followed visual communication best practices, and created an art direction for the infographic that took visual inspiration from the new logo.

Today’s healthcare organizations need branding strategies and logos that communicate both technical innovation and the human compassion at the core of what they do. We feel proud to say that our visual strategy for Kaiser Permanente GSAA accomplished both.
