The Client Goal
Alaska Air was celebrating the public launch of a new campaign, Alaska Beyond. Their first need was a static infographic to explain the 3 main components of their flight experience (Beyond Entertainment, Beyond Delicious, Beyond Comfort), but they also needed a deeper dive into how of few of these components work and how they benefit Alaska flyers. Additionally, they came to us for a design that would help explain the process and benefits of their Mileage Plan. Across all of the designs, the client needed to present the information in a concise but effective way so that a visitor to their blog — or a passenger on a plane — could clearly understand the concepts and instructions on their own. The designs also needed to stay on-brand.
The Solution
We developed the dimensions and layout for each infographic based on its primary use, whether for print or web. It was important to choose illustration styles that resonated with the existing Alaska Air and Alaska Beyond aesthetics to avoid a confusing departure from the brand. On our first project together we found a style that fit well and that the client liked; we continued to use that style to create a cohesive feel for all of their releases. By working closely with Alaska Air on the messaging of these designs, we included only the necessary copy to understand each feature, breaking it up as much as possible for fast and easy comprehension. Some of these projects live on Alaska Air’s blog; the Inflight Entertainment design will be available as a printed seatback insert on applicable planes, helping passengers to stay connected and comfortable in the air.
