The Client Goal
The Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) created a study, released in February 2015, to analyze the scope of the technology industry as well as influences, jobs, and growth directions. When WTIA was looking for a way to promote their study as well as capture some of the key points, we knew a bright infographic (with a touch of humor) would help create an accessible approach and generate interest in learning more about WTIA’s findings.
The Solution
The WTIA study focused on many aspects of the sector, but we thought we’d be able to capture the best variety of information by targeting information connected to tech employees, affectionately named “coding ninjas.” The lighthearted term allowed for an engaging extended metaphor while maintaining alignment with the WTIA brand. Using a custom ninja illustration throughout the infographic provided cohesion among the different sections, and the combination of flat geometric scenes with patterned textures allowed for visual detail without being overwhelming. WTIA included the infographic in a blog post that overviewed the study and its findings, combining visual communication with long-form insight for the WTIA audience.
