The Client Goal
Expedia helps their customers to make informed decisions about travel and accommodations — an industry in which they are a global thought leader. They wanted to encourage consumers to use Expedia’s online services. This graphic, destined for their blog and social media outlets, would help them debut the emerging term “ecotourism” as they extend their offerings in socially responsible travel.
Based on Expedia’s audience, we decided to use a consumer-friendly illustration style and a color palette that keeps viewers feeling positive and excited. The illustrations were developed to put the audience in the traveling mindset. At the end of the scrolling graphic, popular ecotourism destinations are listed to encourage viewers to use Expedia’s online booking services for their next trip. We stopped short of including specific Expedia mentions or a call to action in order to maintain enthusiasm without the feel of a hard sell.
