The Client Goal
DreamWorks needed kinetic content that would help guide a viewer through Comic-Con with the help of the star characters of their animated film Home. This design would be placed online to attract media attention to their latest film and presented at a panel DreamWorks was holding at the San Diego Comic-Con. The result needed to be a shareable piece of visual communication that would accurately reflect the Comic-Con experience to engage an online and offline audience.
To incorporate the humorous tone of the film and maintain DreamWorks brand consistency, we created a script that mimicked the way the aliens in Home speak. The scrolling infographic format can be easily used on the web and creates a narrative flow while accommodating plenty of illustration. DreamWorks CGI graphics are included in the header and footer while original character illustration is used throughout; this helps to maintain the quality and integrity of the film’s characters while also allowing them to be portrayed in novel situations. Upon release, Completely Accurate and Informed Guide to Comic-Con was featured on Fandango.com and presented on-stage by John Malkovich.
