Refined Logo Concepts
The Client Goal
The University of Kansas Center on Assets, Education, and Inclusion (AEDI) works with low-income children and families to provide opportunities to emerge from experiencing poverty. Along with nurturing relationships, AEDI studies innovations and experiences for diverse ways of advancing the opportunities for those in need. AEDI approached us with the ask of a new logo that communicated their mission of helping kids succeed.
To build a logo that would represent AEDI’s brand, community, and goals, we started with refining the concept. We created more than 50 sketches to explore a variety of ways of representing AEDI and communicating its priorities. After narrowing our concept down to 2 strong possibilities, we determined that blending typography with a rocketing figure would create dynamic visual movement while accelerating the figure’s growth, paralleling AEDI’s goals as an organization. We provided 2 final versions to AEDI, composed of the same structure but different color variations, to provide some flexibility in the brand’s representation. Today, the logo is used both on AEDI’s website as well as their social media and other branded sources, creating a unified expression of AEDI and its community.
