SXSW Rewind: Killer Infographics CEO on Visual Storytelling for Marketers

If you haven’t already heard the news, Killer Infographics CEO Amy Balliett will be speaking at SXSW for the third year in a row in 2019 in a solo talk called “The Visual-First Method: Boost Conversions Now.” Amy speaks about visual communication at dozens of conferences every year, but seeing her present on one of SXSW’s big stages is always a special treat for the Killer team.

Ahead of Amy’s talk on March 10, we thought it might be useful to our readers to share the full video of Amy’s SXSW talk last year. In 2018, she co-presented with Nathan Clendenin, CEO and founder of StoryDriven, in a talk called “The New Age of Story: Marketing for a Visual World.”

Both Nathan and Amy are passionate about how visual storytelling can create connection, cultivate empathy, and help brands reach their audiences in a more meaningful way.

Visual storytelling has become an essential tool for marketers today, who combine as many as 12 to 14 distinct types of visual media to achieve their goals. That old adage, “Content is king,” has been replaced by a new one: visual content is now king, but chasing the latest trends can obscure rather than illuminate your message. In their talk, Amy and Nathan share solutions designed to help marketers and brands cut through the noise, focus their message, and engage their audiences long-term.
